An incredibly glitzy, fully sequined bathing suit made by Bonwit Teller in 1940.
I would guess that this was probably made more for a beauty pageant rather than actually swimwear, but the sequins are plastic instead of metal so it would have been technically pool-worthy if the wearer so desired.
I NEED THIS ON MY BODY

Julia! Is that you? Jesus christ. Meagh and I just had mutual heart attacks/boners.least favourite thing about the summer: being harrassed/cat-called by douchebags.
best thing about the summer: casually flashing my hairy pits so those douchebags leave me alone.
ooooooooooo oui oui i submitted this to hairy pits club ages ago and forgot about it! self-portrait outtake from selling vintage bathing suits on etsy.
ALSO: LOL at the reblogs saying “OMG WHY” and “she must be french”

[vintage-styled photo of a woman standing in a pool wearing a white flowered bathing suit with matching bathing cap. She is reading a book]
I try to hold off on posting “oooh look how pretty this tiny white lady is!” type of posts, but…really, I’d love to spend a day or two this way.
it’s more about the sentiment. like, i’d like to spend a day or two in the water reading books wearing gorgeous bathing caps and vintage bathing suits. fuck yeah.

oh hay this is me in one of my vintage bathing suits that i love so but that is pretty itchy (it’s a wool spandex blend which makes me think it is probably from the 60s… so i can’t even imagine how itchy one from the 20s-30s would be)
ugh this photo, AUTOREBLOG 4EVER

WHY ARE EARLY 20TH CENTURY BATHING SUITS ALWAYS PERFECT
yes they are gorgeous but seriously have you ever touched one? i wonder if it’s because of how they aged but goddamn all the ones i’ve seen have been itchy as all hell! no thanks. i’m not the biggest fan of synthetic fabrics but when it comes to bathing suits i cannot do without… they do look divine, though.
