Surely I can’t be the only one literally squealing over Gaultier, right? It was like that fucking amazing couture collection mixed up with all the incredible things that he did in the 90’s, SS94 in particular — we are no stranger to me raving about this by now, right? But the tattoo tights and sleeves! The makeup and hair! The just-heavy-handed-enough nostalgia for awkward, fetishy 90s-multiculturalism that came off today as both self-referential and self-mocking in the most charming of ways! The stacked bracelets, chain ring-bracelet things, the excessive ear piercings, the nose rings, the just-campy-enough sailor-pirate-princess-Hitchcock-punk-librarian-glam getups, the layered sheer chartreuse, the (of course) sailor stripes, the lacy black and white lingerie, the orange and white glasses (the orange and white glasses!) — it’s impossible to argue with.
