i think i need to watch more clouzot. you’ve probably seen those dreamy photos of romy schneider painted in glitter, or wearing technicolour makeup. every once in a while a reformed film snob needs a reminder of what i loved/hated about consuming almost solely pre-1970 european films…

okay this is what i’m talking about with credit and wierdness. this is a film still from Amanita Pestilens (René Bonnière) Québec, 1963. it is a rare film. you can’t just pick it up from any rental store or download it. in fact, tomorrow night i’m going to see it publicly screened for the first time since its release in the 60s. before, it was only accessible if you asked for permission for a copy from la cinematheque quebecoise.
yet, for some strange reason, a cropped film still photo of one of the stars (who went on to larger fame) is making the rounds on tumblr. with no context. at least it has her name? but who is to blame? the person who shared it in the first place?
