while i love that more people are potentially being inspired by an incredible photographer thanks to miss moss, i can’t help but wonder… the very same miss moss is sharing these (highly circulated) photos of wonderful queer androgynous folks, has also used the word “tranny” as an insult. yet, she would laud a stylish gender bender who rejected the binary, and may very well be called a “tranny” in 2012.
EDITED TO ADD: diana of miss moss emailed me about this and apologized for using the slur, saying “there is no excuse for it” and deleted the post in question. hurrah for people reacting politely and respectfully when getting called out!

July 22, 1894 – The first ever motorized racing event was held in France between the cities of Paris and Rouen. The race was won by Comte Jules-Albert de Dion, but his steam driven car needed a stoker and therefore he was disqualified and first prize was awarded to the runner-up…
Above: Vanity Fair caricature of de Dion, 1899, entitled “Automobile”

I can’t reblog your reply to that spambot on silentintertitles but I just wanted to say that I don’t think there’s any way I could possibly love you more. Also this dude on his car-trike is pretty awesome too I guess. As such things go.

and this is what we call DAPPER AS FUQ. hot damn.

hilarious thing about fashion: hey anyone who read this who knew me when i was 15 - remember when i wore those high waisted bright red 1970s pants and was teased incessantly about it but still loved them to bits? and how it got me the nickname “mindy crotch shot” because it reminded my friends of mork & mindy (which i have never seen) and that “high waisted” pants to them just meant “it makes you look like you have a huge crotch? and how bummed out i was when they didn’t fit me anymore and my mom gave them away?
i wish i had a picture! but they were pretty much these without the belt.
