Some 1930s babes, drawn by Jenna Brager (via Historical imaging | Sassyfrass Circus)
From the Mid-Week Pictorial, Jennie MacGregor, scooped up by the Minneapolis police on April 10, 1924 for “dispensing wet goods” from her bootlegger’s life preserver. Its caption was headed with “A Perfect 36” — perhaps a reference to Tennessee, the 36th state to ratify the 19th Amendment, granting women’s suffrage? Photo: The New York Times

The fabulous fashion & style of the Harlem Renaissance, c.1920s-1930s
i’ve seen a handful of these before, and as gorgeous as it is to see this collection, i wish they were circulating with credit/context. the final one is most likely by Robert Scurlock in the 1960s-1970s from a 1920s negative. more details here.
