Male Vulnerability
Our American society has such a hard time with allowing boys or men express vulnerability. Men expressing vulnerability to significant others/partners is seen as a sign of weakness by most male peers. Men expressing vulnerability with each other…forgetaboutit.
Hyper-masculinity and hegemony are strangle-holding our young men in to gender performances and scripts that don’t allow for any emotional vulnerability.
This is obviously a larger conversation and unfortunately it is a topic that I need to develop more. Yet, I liked this photo. It is reassuring to say the least.
