"As much as a fashion magazine or an ad is always trying to sell something to us, it feels more and more like big fashion blogs are also “selling” something, and it works so magnificently because it doesn’t necessarily feel like we are being sold anything. And yet we are, aren’t we? Aren’t we being “sold” on a lifestyle that seems charmed and beautiful—one where you get to run around in exquisite clothes in the scenic locations while your hetero-male partner takes adoring, flattering photos of you?"

Calling for those interested in creating a teen mag/mag for young women

bowfolk:

Chelsea and I are going to start an online magazine with a strong emphasis on young girls and women of color, trans girls, disabled girls, non-heteronormative girls, queer girls, fat girls, mentally ill girls, etc etc.

We (Chelsea, also known as popca on tumblr, and I) are interested in whatever capacity you are willing to help. Please tell us if you are interested in writing, designing, doing artwork, creating, organizing, CSS/flash coding or something you would like to do that we haven’t listed.

Anybody who is interested, get at us by sending us an e-mail at untitledteenmag@gmail.com. Thanks!

An unofficial music video for the song “Circumambient,” by Grimes (Claire Boucher). Track is from the album “Visions.” (Artubus/4AD) Footage is from the 1968 film “La Prisonniére,” by Henri-George Clouzot.

i LOVE this. it also vaguely reminds me of one of my all time favourite music videos.

i got this print from friend prices at the milwaukee zine fest (mine is printed on red instead of grey though) i am putting it above my work area as inspiration and admonishment.

SO GOOD. (i also love that there is a mixer, because cooking is work! and is not often enough recognized as such)
