Alexander McQueen was found dead at the age of 40, just three years after his close friend, Isabella Blow – who plucked him from obscurity and helped him become a star – killed herself.
I am so sad for so many different reasons. Because he was an immensely talented person who inspired me as a teenager. Because this is suicide. Because I have fought that fight and will probably fight it forever. Because so many wonderful creative people are afflicted with this blight and they become lost to us. Because depression and suicide are still taboo.
