this photo is heartbreaking in all sorts of ways… anyone who has read about or knows intersexed people has probably heard about the exploitation, shaming and non-consensual surgeries and public examinations that went on in the 19th century, not to mention the things that still happen today.
and the posture is just so terrifying, the person looks so ashamed and scared. i hate this.
