Almost Not Quite is a queer collective of Toronto-based artists, community organizers, and educators. We believe that spaces rich with art, music, and performance can be outlets for queer sentiments. Parties and exhibits can be personal invitations to communicate a desire for desirability. We celebrate unruliness, awkwardness, and guts.
Almost Not Quite is committed to the impossible goals of: intimacy, reciprocity, and new iterations of queerness that pay respect to the histories out of which we do or do not appear. We throw mostly queer, art-centered events that celebrate an inheritance of queer struggles that have tried to make our desires socially legible. Our organizing is also fueled by a longing for a future that’s better than anything yet imagined.Hannah Dyer

It’s been really hard for me to articulate how excited I am about this project. We’ve been meeting for brunch every Sunday for a while now, sharing words around queer desirability, differently shaped manifestations of our politics, and unapologetic love and feelings of indebtedness for the art and other cultural production that keep us alive.
Can’t wait to create, build, fail, solve, forgive, grow + + + + +
things like this really make me miss living in toronto but also fill me with lots of joy and hope.
